Keilty To Join Varsity Reds

(FREDERICTON, NB) Despite her love of running, running from Fredericton was never an option for Jenna Keilty.

The École Sainte-Anne product has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the UNB Varsity Reds track & field and cross country teams, beginning in the 2017-18 season.

“I grew up in Fredericton and love the city with all my heart,” said Keilty. “Staying home for my studies wasn’t a hard decision.”

While competing for École Sainte-Anne, Keilty has also been a member of the Fredericton Fast Tracks club.

During her high school career, Keilty scored top three finishes in the NBIAA varsity girls cross country championship in three consecutive years.

She was ESA’s cross country MVP in her Grade 11 year, and earned the team’s Spirit Award this past season.

Earlier this year, she won the women’s 5K event at the Fredericton Marathon, in a time of 18:53.

“Jenna is one of the top three female recruits in New Brunswick this year,” said Varsity Reds cross country coach Tim Randall. “She’s already run fast times and will have an immediate impact on our team and in the AUS.”

Keilty plans on studying Philosophy and Leadership at UNB’s Renaissance College.
