Getting the opportunity to race in front of a home crowd the UNB Varsity Reds women's cross-country team did not disappoint. With 75 athletes from across Atlantic Canada racing the 6000m (6km) distance the women's team won the event over six other AUS schools, which was co-hosted with Saint Thomas University.

UNB finished first in the team competition with 33 points, Dalhousie was second with 43, and StFX took third with 53 points.  Acadia was fourth with 114, Saint Mary's was fifth with 122, UdeM was 6th with 159, and STU was 7th 219 points.

Captain Sarah Myatt continued to lead the VREDS being the teams top finisher placing third place.  Katie Robinson improved significantly over her run in Acadia to finish second for the team and fifth overall.  First year Cailie Robinson while not being 100% still managed to be the teams third finisher and sixth overall.  Fellow first year Rachel Bennet was fourth for the Reds and ninth overall.  Rounding out the scorers for UNB was Roya MacDonald who finished fifth for the team and tenth overall.

The V-Reds will take a break from competition this coming weekend but will be in action in Moncton on October 4th at the UdeM Invitational and then travel to Antigonish the following week for the StFX Invitational on October 11th. The StFX Invitational is being run as an Interlock competition with the members of the RSEQ joining in, notably Laval, McGill, QUAM, and Sherbrooke.
