(CORUM, TURKEY) Allyssa Cleaves has added the title of World Champion to her already impressive wrestling resume.

Cleaves won the gold medal in the women’s 48kg. division at the 2016 FISU World University Wrestling Championships, in Corum, Turkey.

The FISU championship is just the latest triumph in Cleaves’ already decorated year.

In February, Cleaves won gold in the 48kg. weight class at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport wrestling championships. She was also named the outstanding female wrestler at the CIS meet and a first team All-Canadian.

In April, Cleaves was named the Varsity Reds female Athlete of the Year, earning the Colin B. MacKay Shield.

Cleaves also won a silver medal at the Canadian senior wrestling championships.
