Maggie McLenahan commits to V-Reds Volleyball

The UNB Varsity Reds women's volleyball program is pleased to announce that Maggie McLenahan will join the team for the 2014-15 season.

McLenahan, 2013 Volleyball New Brunswick female athlete of the year, will graduate from Oromocto High School in June and has been accepted into UNB's Faculty of Kinesiology where she will study for a Bachelor of Sports and Recreation.

"I grew up watching the Varsity Reds take to the court," said McLenahan.  "Joining the team is an amazing opportunity and a dream come true as the V-Reds are what made me fall in love with the sport.   There is nowhere else I would rather play volleyball."

Coach Jilliane Goulet is excited to add McLenahan to her roster for the upcoming season especially since McLenahan has enjoyed a great deal of success with the Fredericton Reds Volleyball Club who recently won gold in Division 1, Tier 2 at Club Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta.

"Maggie is a well-rounded, dedicated player, with a special talent in the back row," said Goulet.

"After watching her compete for two seasons, and seeing her train at our EVTC, I have no doubt Maggie will make our team stronger!"

McLenahan will join Allison Quiring, Claire Richard, Janie-eve Doucet and Victoria Eadle who have all committed to the V-Reds program.  The New Brunswick group, all standout players for their respective teams, will join a very young UNB roster in September.
