Track & Field Season Underway

(OROMOCTO, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds opened the 2015-2016 AUS Track and Field season this past weekend, at the ANB Last Chance meet, at the CFB Gagetown track.

19 VReds women took part in the meet.

Highlights for UNB included:

First year athlete Nadia Wysote won both the 300m(44.96s) and the 600m(1:44.40s).
Second year competitor Sydney MacDonald placed first in the junior women's 60m(8.17s), first in the high jump(1.50m) and third in the shot put(9.42m).
Fourth year runner Nathalie Cecire won the senior women's 1000m in 3:16.94s.

"It was great to see the team compete," said Varsity Reds head coach Jason Reindl. "Our women's team has grown significantly compared to last year and while our performances as a whole weren't spectacular, we are continuing to remind everyone that it is early. The focus is on the AUS Championships at the end of February."
