UNB Recruit Breaks 33 Year old Record

UNB Track and Field wishes to congratulate incoming student-athlete Sydney MacDonald of Miramichi on her record breaking weekend at the NB Legion Trials meet.

Sydney has broken numerous records in her young career but over the weekend added to the list by establishing new marks provincial marks in the heptathlon Junior and Senior age categories. Her score of 4146pts beat her previous personal best by 390pts and broke the previous NB senior record that was set 33 years ago by 100pts.  This make Sydney the best female multi-event athlete in the history of New Brunswick!
Sydney now holds the New Brunswick multi-event records for Midget, Youth, Junior, and Senior age categories outdoors as well as the youth pentathlon record indoors.
"Having an athlete like Sydney joining us at UNB is a huge boost to the program.  Our women's team has continually improved and with Sydney joining us we will take another big leap forward.  With Sydney and several other top recruits coming in we have our sights firmly set on the AUS championships in 2015," said head coach Jason Reindl.  Reindl added, "Sydney's success is a testament to her attitude and commitment.  She is an exceptionally hard worker and has the ability to score at the championship level in multiple events.  We can't wait to see her wearing Red."
