Alex Black finishes 11th at the CIS Track and Field Championship

On the evening of March 8th Alexandra Black's UNB Track and Field career came to a close.  Coming into the national championships ranked 11th Black was looking to throw a personal best and move up in the rankings but it wasn't to be.   With throws of 11.45m – 11.71m – 12.07m she did not qualify for the finals and finished the competition 11th

"Everything was looking good," commented Head Coach Jason Reindl.  "She had a good warm up and appeared ready to launch a big one but once the competition started she couldn't find her rhythm," added Reindl.

Alexandra ends her career as a 3x AUS Champion; AUS record holder; and the New Brunswick indoor record holder in the shot put.

"You can not replace an athlete like Alexandra. Her achievements in competition and the leadership that she brings to this team cannot be stated enough.  UNB Track and Field athletes will be striving to emulate Alexandra in the future," stated Reindl.

The CIS Championships will wrap up this afternoon in Edmonton.  Heading into the final day Calgary leads the women's side with 76 points ahead of Toronto with 68 and Guelph with 52.25.  On the men's side Windsor leads with 65 points ahead of Guelph with 61 and Ottawa in third with 38.
