The Varsity Reds men's and women's swim teams had some very good results at the AUS championships held this past weekend at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Heading into the AUS event two swimmers had previously qualified for the CIS Championship - freshman Eyad Albassiouny, Cairo, Egypt, qualified at the AUS Invitational in November while senior Katilyn Young, Fredericton, NB, qualified last weekend in Moncton.
Robin Ferdinand was excited that two additional swimmers qualified this weekend and said, "This weekend, V-Reds swimming proved that working together and supporting each other was the key to success. Each athlete contributed to the performances of their teammates, with Juliana and Lauren qualifying for CIS."
Vantelligen qualified in the 800 free while Adam qualified in the 50 breaststroke. They will join Albassiouny and Young at the CIS Championship to be held February 22-24 at the University of Toronto, along with Amanda Greene rounding out the women's relay team.
"All athletes that attended the meet scored points and almost everyone had at least one lifetime best time, making our success a complete effort," continued Ferdinand. "We were consistently on the podium- major breakthroughs were made this weekend- I couldn't be more proud of my team!"
