(Halifax, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 2-0 on Saturday, in the Tigers home opener.

The Varsity Reds had the first chances of the game with two shots on goal in the early minutes, but Dalhousie's Jensen Hudder(White's Lake, NS) opened the scoring, netting a penalty kick after a handball in the box.

The Tigers added to their lead a short time later when Rachelle Lalande(Halifax, NS) converted a corner kick in the 27th minute.

The VReds managed two more shots in the half, but neither of them found their way to the goal.

The Tigers came out with a flurry of four shots on goal in the first four minutes of the second half, but keeper Brynn Nash(Saskatoon, SK) was up to the task.

Dalhousie controlled possession late in the second half, limiting UNB to just one more scoring chance, a high header in the box from Mackenzie Sinclair(Camperdown, NS).

The Subway Player of the Game was game winning goal scorer, Rachelle Lalande of Dalhousie.

The Varsity Reds now return to Fredericton for their home opener, on Saturday. They host the CBU Capers in a 1:00pm kick-off.
