Big Weekend at BMO Centre

SEAHAWKS FLY INTO FREDERICTON TO FACE REDS

(FREDERICTON, NB) With the Atlantic University Sport season winding down, weekend games against the Memorial University Seahawks could prove crucial for both the men's and women's UNB Varsity Reds soccer teams.

The Varsity Reds and Seahawks meet Saturday and Sunday, at the BMO Centre. Saturday's game begin at 1:00PM(women) and 3:15PM(men). Sunday's action kicks off at 11:00AM(women) and 1:15PM(men).

The women's VReds remain unbeaten this season and are coming off a win and a draw two weekends ago. With three wins, no losses and four ties, UNB sits three points back of St. FX and Cape Breton, in the AUS standings.

"The top five teams are separated by three points in our league, so every game is important as we look to secure a playoff spot," says head coach Jon Crossland.

Memorial beat UNB in last season's AUS final, a fact not lost on Crossland.

The men's squad is coming off a pair of victories prior to Thanksgiving and are only one point ahead of Memorial in the standings.

"All our players are one-hundred percent healthy and available to play," says coach Miles Pinsent. "We are determined to earn maximum points against a very difficult opponent."

The AUS regular season concludes in just two weeks time.
