Women's Soccer Pre-Season Wrap Up

The Lady Reds finished their pre-season tournament off with a 1-2-0 record, with a 4-0 win against Husson University, 3-1 loss to Université du Québec a Montréal (UQAM) and a 1-0 loss to Dalhousie (DAL) University.

Whitney Gallant and Eden Vanderlaan each had a goal in their game against Husson University in Bangor, Maine, with Amanda Kenny taking two of her own.

The clean sheet was shared between Morgan Murphy and Brittany Carol, two goalkeeping recruits.
"The girls all played well. They were excited to play and it showed through in their performance," said head coach Jon Crossland.
The ladies then took on UQAM where they took a lead early into the game. Briana Ford scored from the 18 yard line at 2:43, but unfortunately they couldn't hold the lead and the Citadins scored two minutes later and again in minute 51.
Ford scored in the 73rd minute, but it wasn't enough and the ladies took a 3-2 loss after a hard fight.

"They didn't have as much time with the ball, and everything was a bit quicker than it was on Tuesday, for sure," said Crossland.

"It's going to take us a while to get in there, I mean that's a team that's played three or four exhibitions games already and that's our second."

They were unable to take a victory in their third game against DAL, but Crossland says it is a good way to practice and finalize his roster before the season starts.

"We try to bring in good competition and DAL has been the best in our league for the past couple years, so you get a glimpse at what that looks like," said head coach Jon Crossland.
