NBA All-Star Tour At UNB

NBA All-Star Tour At UNB

(FREDERICTON, NB) On any other weekend, a game against the No. 2 ranked team in the country would be enough to draw a crowd. But add former NBA star Ron Harper to the mix and Saturday should be quite a night at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.

The 3-and-2 Varsity Reds play host to the 4-and-0 Saint Mary's Huskies in a two game set this weekend. Friday's action tips off at 6PM, with the women on court. The men take over at 8PM.

There will be re-matches Saturday evening... when UNB will also welcome the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge to Fredericton.

If you think you've got what it takes to be an All-Star, then you'll be interested in the challenge. The NBA is looking for the top 3-point shooters, NBA Skills Challenge competitors and top dunkers to compete for a national title, in Toronto over the NBA All-Star weekend.

Anyone over the age of 14 is invited to come to the Currie Center at noon, on Saturday, to qualify for their chance to compete. Top performers will compete for a trip to Toronto and a chance at the national title, during the UNB/SMU games that evening.

Also coming to town, the BMO NBA All-Star Kidsfest.

Every NBA All-Star started somewhere, so youth of all ages and families, have the chance to experience the NBA through an event that will include an NBA Mascot and NBA Dancers. The BMO NBA All-Star Kidsfest will be held at the Fredericton YMCA(570 York Street), on Friday, from 5-8PM.
