UNB loses heartbreaker to STFX in semi-final #2 of Subway AUS Championship
(FREDERICTON, NB) – In semi-final #2 of the Subway AUS women's basketball championship the StFX X-Women defeated the UNB Varsity Reds by eleven with a final score of 74-63. The X-Women will move on to tomorrow’s championship game at 2:00 pm against the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
 
Subway player of the game from the Varsity Reds was Rachel Cleary, a second year post for the Varsity Reds. Cleary had 13 points and a total of six rebounds. The player of the game for the X-Women was Lia St. Pierre, a senior forward, with five rebounds and a game leading 27 points.
 
Third year wing, Claire Colborne led the game in rebounds, with 8, and also in assists with a total of five for the Varsity Reds. For the X-Women, second year guard Vanessa Pickard chipped in with 18 points while Claire Colborne led the Varsity reds with 14 points.
 
The tournament continues tomorrow with the championship game as the Saint Mary’s Huskies take on StFX X-Women.
