Reds Run Fourth At AUS Meet

(FREDERICTON, NB) It was hardly a walk in the park, but the UNB Varsity Reds men's cross country team ran to a fourth place team finish at Saturday’s Atlantic University Sport championship, in Fredericton.

The men were paced by Joshua Shanks, who covered the hilly ten kilometer course in a time of 35:47.5. Shanks was 20th overall. He was followed closely by Trevor Morrison, who ran 21st in a time of 35:57.6.

Chris McNamara(23rd), Jonathon Bunn(24th) and Scott McMullin(28th) rounded out UNB’s top five.

In the women’s six kilometer event, senior Nathalie Cecire led UNB, placing 20th in a time of 25:15.2. “Overall, I know everyone’s worked really hard this year and I’m proud of how everyone has done,” said Cecire, who ran her final race for the Varsity Reds.

The women placed seventh in the team standings.

Priya Bhutani was 25th, in a time of 25:35.2, while Catherine Tremblay ran 40th, in 28:02.1.

Emma Wistaff and Christine Hubbard rounded out UNB’s top five women, finishing 41st and 42nd.
