(MONCTON, NB) The UNB Reds built a 4-0 lead, then hung on to beat l'Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus 5-3 on Wednesday, in Moncton's Bell Let's Talk Game.
In the fifth and final regular season encounter between the teams, Oliver Cooper (Fredericton, NB) opened the scoring, late in the first period.
Vincent Deslauriers (Blainville, QC), Alexandre Bernier (Dieppe, NB), and Danick Crète (Rigaud, QC) also scored in the second, as Moncton came back to make the score 4-3 after 40 minutes.
Boudens would score his second of the game into an empty net. He was named Subway Player of the Game.
"My first goal was an important one," said Bernier. "We were behind 4-1 and it got us to within two. It was an emotional game and a good battle. We showed we can play with them. At 4-0, it was not easy, but our first goal gave us hope and we played better."
"This game offers confidence as compared to the last one," added Moncton coach Judes Vallée. "The chain had come off in the previous game and our team showed character this evening."
Moncton will play its last regular season home game on Friday evening, hosting the UPEI Panthers in a 7:00pm start.
The Panthers then travel to Fredericton, where they'll face UNB on Saturday, in another 7:00pm start.
