JP Labardo joins UNB hockey

The defending 2013 national championships the UNB Varsity Reds would like to announce the addition of JP Labardo of Bolton, Ontario to their team for the upcoming 2013-14 season.  Labardo is a five year veteran of the OHL and wan an original second round draft selection of the Guelph Storm before being traded to the Oshawa Generals where he spent two seasons.  Last year, the 5'8" 175 lb speedster had a break-out year with the Erie Otters scoring 24 goals and adding 38 assists for 62 pts.  He was picked up by the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL at the end of last season and added three points in four games.

JP is a welcome late addition to the team as he had been pursuing professional hockey opportunities.  He is coming off his best-ever OHL season and is playing with a great deal of confidence.  He has outstanding speed, great offensive skills and a top notch work ethic and is excited about the opportunity in front of him here at UNB.

Labardo will make his UNB debut in the line-up on Friday night when the V-Reds play the University of Windsor Lancers in the annual Fall Classic.  Game time is 7:00 pm on both Friday and Saturday.
