V-Reds cruise past Redmen 7-2
MONTREAL -- The visiting University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds gave up an early goal in the first minute of play, but stormed back to defeat the McGill Redmen 7-2 in an exhibition game Friday night between the last two University Cup winners.

It took just 37 seconds for McGill's Christophe Longpre-Poirier to open the scoring at McConnel Arena. UNB's Chris Culligan tied the game up at 7:01 and 36 seconds later Thomas Nesbitt put the V-Reds into the lead. It was to be a brief lead as veteran Redman forward Nicolas Biniek tied the game back up at the 8:36 mark.

The UNB power play went to work at 15:11, with transfer student Colby Pridham scoring in his first game as a V-Red to break the tie once again. The Varsity Reds had another power play opportunity midway through the second period when the Redmen were called for too many men on the ice. This time it was Tyler Carroll with the goal, and another transfer student playing his first game in the red 'n black, Bryce Swan, picked up an assist on the play.

UNB added two more goals in the second period, from Antoine Houde-Caron and rookie Cam Critchlow, and a shorthanded penalty shot goal by Taylor MacDougall in the third period. The V-Reds outshot the Redmen 37-21 in the game. Travis Fullerton went the distance in the UNB net while Andrew Flemming and Hubert Morin divided the duty for McGill.

UNB stays in Montreal to play the Concordia Stingers Saturday afternoon.
