#11 - Varsity Reds Score Late For CIS QF Win

TOP 15 OF 2015-2016: #11 – LAST MINUTE RALLY TO WIN MEN’S SOCCER QUARTER-FINAL

The clock was ticking, headed toward disappointment for the three time AUS men’s soccer champions.

With less than five minutes to play in their quarter-final match against the No. 7 University of Victoria Vikings, UNB trailed 2-1.

Cue the comeback.

With four minutes to play, Ben Gorringe chipped a shot past Vikes keeper Noah Pawlowski to even the score.

Two and a half minutes later, Ken Van Aarle beat a leaping Pawlowski in almost the exact same spot to put the Varsity Reds ahead.

“I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my life,” said Gorringe. “I had faith in our guys the whole time.”

The win moved UNB into a semi-final match, against UQAM, where they'd rally from two goals down again... and win in overtime, advancing to the CIS final.
